PLease read the text and give comments my friends, but I am on holidays now until 22th of July (Sunday). I posted some images in advance until the 17th of July.
A modern building (the Frisian Library) and the 16th-Century Oldenhove tower. This tower has no belonging church (the church is at 500 meters distance and has no tower), on top of that it is skewed and not completed because the architect was a German from the rocky Eifel area and had no experience with building on weak soil. During building the tower sunk to skewness and they decided to build further as perpendicular as possible, so there is a slight curb in its shape, too. Then it appeared that the tower became too heavy for completion and the architect got his walking papers. The skewness is even better visible when viewed from another angle, but I chose this one because of the contrast with the new building and the nice fence.
Thank you for visiting my p-blog and leaving your comment and advice!

WOW! Nice leaning tower of Netherlands! What a nice story behind it! Good comparison of old and modern.

Interesting juxtaposition of old and new buildings. I love the character of the old one here, lovely lines, colors and textures. The new building looks so bland, especially when they're side by side, like these are.
