I find it very interesting how you framed the wooden fence (? ) with the flowers. This draws our attention to the birds sitting on it and makes the photo more captivating.

@Wolfgang Prigge: Thanks Wolfgang, it's not a fence but a construction to moor boats, in Dutch we call it "dukdalf" a word referring to the "Duke of Alva", a very cruel Spanish general in our 80-year war with the Spaniards in the 17th century, I still have to investigate why this person is brought into connection with a mooring construction for boats.
@milot: Thanks very much I always appreciate such comments by photographers of your level! By the way I tried to comment on your p-blog in my best French but it failed with the Paris picture and the St. Lawrence river picture, only the ducks picture succeeded. Maybe a little error on your blog software? I 'm sure I filled in everything correctly.
I thought about your "Uncle Reginald". Was he from the van doos? (the french-speaking royal 22nd regiment, famous for their bravery) They were rotated into Afganistan three weeks ago and had their first casualty on Sunday, a 23 yearv old private from Montréal.

@Wolfgang Prigge: No, I don't think he was because his name was pronounced the English way, and I cannot ask my parents anymore because they passed away recently. It's anyway a tragedy all those killings for uncertain reasons. In Europe the Canadians were welcomed as liberators but Afghanistan? I don't want to elaborate further because there are other places on the Internet to discuss these matters.
Beautiful shot! Did you bend that one plant down to get a better view of the water? :)

@HorseRotorVator: Honestly, I didn't! Maybe someone else who wanted to have a picture from the same place. But the wind had been very strong (almost storm) during a couple of days, and I saw many more broken stems of this kind of plant around (they have to function only half a year, next year the plant makes new stems) so it could very well be nature itself.
I like this composition a lot. Seems like three images in one with the three layers. Strong foreground – soft background and the birds in the middle. Great contrast.
