Here you see the same clock as yesterday, this time with an old painting by Willy Martens, a member of the "Laren School". My father once acquired it for a price our family could afford, he was very proud of it. It's not a masterpiece but a quick oil sketch by a master hand, I think he finished it in an hour or so, and it's also a pity that it contains some little paint damages, an expert told me that I should leave it like that and I agree.

Does this clock still word? i'm surprised to see different hours on the both photos. Nice idea to make an emotional serie in the memories to your father. I prefer the b/w one, it fits better to the titile and the mood to look at the photo

@Soph: The clock only works when you move it, I think I'll have it repaired some day. Thank you for your advice for an emotional series! I think I'll present more pictures like these (in B&W) every now and then, instead of following each other, to keep the blog vivid. By the way, the clock is bought in Belgium (Liège or Luik) at the Sunday morning market. I went there often with my father, we lived in South Limburg at the time. As we were Roman Catholic, we also went to the church there and the Mass was in Latin just like in the Netherlands or wherever in the world, I found it a great advantage, but I knew Latin (it was taught at my school) and most people don't, so I can understand why Latin has been abolished now.
Nice photo and interesting way to present us your father. I'm busy this weekend with my two little granddaughters Lilli & Maya, but you should see my answer to your coment on our blog. Have fun!

The clocks looks as it is wooden as the frame of the picture. It gives your image a special feeling, which I like a lot. Very nice idea.

WOW! What a good composition. precious family clock and painting. They made me want to cry. For the (maybe) hard moments passed away those days. Now there is only the memories that remained.

@Soodabeh: Thanks for your sympathic response Soodabeh. My father passed away at 83 years of age, in 2004. His whole life he did nothing but only work, work, work for his family, his hobby was "old things" which he restored and sold (income for family), his specialty were furniture and... violins, he could play violin himself. A few days before he died he said: "I've had a beautiful life" and apologized to his children for several things he thought he did wrong, he was such a man! One way or another I believe he's still around.
Yes of course! He is still around you! You feel him so this is the result! You keep his memories alive. You are a good son of him appreciating his hard works during his beautiful life. May God bless him. Good luck dear Erik.
