@Sojourner: I don't know if you are Frisian, otherwise I would reply in Frisian. You will understand this: "Sa is it krèk!". I looked at your "about" info and I'm very impressed by your courage and view on life, I also admire your family sustaining you. Now I've to prepare a lecture for my school (Hotel School Leeuwarden) and will visit your photoblog a.s.a.p., commenting some pictures in Frisian. I'm happy to give you that home-feeling so far away in such a different but interesting country unfortunately full of risks nowadays. A friend of mine is temporarily working as a surgeon over there and he tells us by e-mail about the risky, but rewarding life because he also helps many local people.
Beautiful colors, great subject and of course the sky! Reminds me of the "Big Sky Country", Saskatchewan and Alberta...

@Wolfgang Prigge: Thanks, Wolfgang, we moved to Fryslân in 1992, and the skies here are so overwhelming that it took at least two years to get used to them. You must have had the same feeling when you were in Northern Germany, especially in the countryside and along the coast.
nice colors!

You are right about the sky in northen Germany, but it's nothing (or in French, c'est de la petite bière) compared to the big sky country of the Canadian Plains. Trains of 3 to 5 km long look like toy trains there, they are dwarfed by the sky!

Could you recommend a site where this is pictured, (as far as it can be seen on a picture)? And if the trains are dwarfed, don't you have to see them from a high standpoint? I saw toy trains in Switzerland, but there the sky was covered by mountain walls and tops. Since Frieland is flat there are no high points from where you can see dwarfed things, it's more like a giant dome.
