This is my first shot with deliberately tuned-in DOF at short distance on a digital camera. It took me seven attempts before I got an acceptable result, luckily the spider was patient enough.
BUT IT'S ALSO MY 200TH PICTURE ON THIS AMINUS3 BLOG!!
I changed my name from "Erik" into "Illuci" because there are more Eriks on Aminus3. The name of the blogsite remains http://erikspictures.aminus3.com. I chose Illuci because it refers to "Illusion" and to "In Luce" (In Light).
Thank you for visiting my p-blog and leaving your comment and advice!

@Soodabeh: Thanks, Soodabeh! I try to follow the seasons and now in September the spiders pop up everywhere to catch the abundance of flies.
Great shot indeed! And congratulations on your 200th Photo!!!
Isn't a good feeling when one try to accomplish something and it comes out well? I think with photography one should be brave to experiment new things... And with digital cams, one has the chance to do so without having to worry about the later cost of developing films and pictures not coming out good... So my advice: "Keep experimenting even if it takes 7 or more attempts!" Cheers!

@juant3: Thanks, Juant3! I'm already addicted to digital, there are only a few people left who keep using analogue (e.g. miu*). The problem is we are too curious (want to see the result immediately), we have no patience (can't wait until the photo is developed, we don't wat to spend much time (dark room) and, last but not least, want to use Internet without an intermediating device such as a scanning machine, which, on top of all that, makes your pictures less sharp. People who keep using analogue are miracles of patience and endurance, we have to cherish them!
Congratulations Erik, and what a superb macro to celebrate! These spiders are so tiny! and you have captured this wonderfully :)

mmm - Love spider shots! - and yeah we wont talk about how many shots i take when i'm shooting to get a good self-portrait or a close-up of me doing my work. although i did start out taking pics of myself using an old manual camera, so i did get decent at it since like juant3 says its hard when you can't immediately see the results. I think it did discipline me into really thinking about my photo (all elements at the same time) background/exposure/composition/lighting... i have respect for both processes tho. Cheers to you for experimenting.

@Rebecca: Thanks Rebecca! In fact, I saw many, many more pictures that I made by myself. Internet and Aminus3 can be really a blessing!
Happy 200th! I am still a far way away from that number - if only school would ease off so I could take my camera out more often :P Excellent capture of the spider - it's interesting to see it so close!

@Tal: Because of the holidays, the walks with my dog and above all biking to and from my school makes this possible for me. When driving in a car you pass along so many subjects but you can stop only at a few places. Have always a camera in your pocket and grasp the occasion! Thanks for your comment, and good luck!
Hi,Illuci! You've changed your name!OK! Such a big spider!!!! I feel a little bit scarely..... But he is a memorable spider for you?!:)
