Fuchsia

In our country we also call it "the poor man's orchid" because they are so cheap and easy to grow, and their beauty and multitude of subspecies and variation are comparable to the expensive orchids.

There is also a little drama in this picture: if you look closelay you'll notice at one stamen a tiny fly which got stuck at it and found its death :(

I like these cute little dancing flowers. Poor fly at least he got to see his flowers before his spirit moved on to other worlds.

@Rabbit: THanks Rabbit, it often surprises me how many things you discover only after seeing the picture has been taken (such as this little fly, I didn't even know that flies of this size existed!), a photo shows more than the eyes especially when small things are blown up!

Wow! This is an absolutely stunning capture, dear Illuci! So beautiful, crisp and clear!! I recognise these, fuchsia mrs popple, as they're growing in my garden too, and I've attempted a series on them previously! But I must say your capture here is amazing, and beats hands down any of my own attempted shots at these! Bravo, Illuci! :)

@Rebecca: Thank you Rebecca, I'm almost blushing! Though it wasn't that difficult. I put my camera in the "flowers" option (close-ups), then I choose the frame, carefully looking at the screen at the backside of the camera. I press the button half-way until the camera bleeps that it's ready to shoot, and then I shoot. It's only a matter of keeping the camera as still as possible, and wait for a windstill moment. Don't breath when shooting, stand firm, and check if your heartbeat doesn't cause any hand- or arm movements. I must say that I won prizes in sharp shooting when I was in the army, but there are a lot of pictures that I had to delete because of movement.
The pot I posted recently I made with a tripod to make sure that the glazing structure would be visible.
