I noticed that a picture's number of comments depends on 2 things: 1. the number of comments I give myself to other pictures and 2. the picture's quality and subject (e.g. pictures with people on them score more comments, and pics with people is not my speciality. I appreciate that when the quality isn't that stunning, one nevertheless places a (critical) remark. Furthermore, not all pics can be on the summit, and my best pictures, I must admit, are also heavily influenced by luck (good circumstances, happy coincidence etc)., but you'll have that experience too I assume.
