From the poem: "Oh, 't ruischen van 't ranke riet!":
Oh, The rustling of the slender reeds!
Yet, oh rustling slender reed, Your voice isn't that contemptible, God made the stream, God made your stem, God spoke: wind, blow...! the breeze came up, The breeze blew up, and 'round your halm, And made it wobbling up and down, God was list'ning... in your mournful song He took delight, oh rustling reed!
Guido Gezelle (1830-1899) Belgian poet and R.C. priest

A series of pictures in this time of the year of the area surrounding our villageHurdegaryp. You can also see pictures on my other blog.
This area is partly covered with rugged marsh- and reed land, in Frisian language: "reidlân".
Thank you for visiting my p-blog and leaving your comment and advice!

@e.: Thanks for your appreciation e.!
The reeds look like they are woven together, as protection from the water behind. A wonderful poem to accompany this beautiful image.

@MaryB: Thanks MaryB, I was strolling around on the little field along the lake, and I asked to myself: why not? I was looking for "interesting subjects" but there was so much reeds around that I didn't even see it as a subject, until I saw these horizontal leaves, in a row of reeds thin enough to look through. I find it also one of my best.
nice greenary and poeam

@KMF: Thank you KMF!
a delightful combination of photo and poem. I really like all the straight lines from the leaves going across the capture of this shot.

@Rabbit: Thanks Rabbit! I also like your film-gazing picture, when I wrote that it was blurred I meant it in a positive sense because you described a blurred thinking process; like in photography (camera and lens on "manual") thinking and planning occurs often like finetuning a picture through the lens, it takes only a bit longer :)
Great and spectacular picture. well done

@standley: Thanks Standley, pleased to meet you, I brought a quick visit to your blog, but I'm sure I'll pay a longer visit!
Hoi Erik! Fijn weekend.
