An animal living more than 250 million years ago: a species of the Trilobite. I bought this one only 2.5 years ago along the Limfjord coast, Denmark, as a souvenir. If these 2.5 years are put on a calendar with intervals of 1 millimeter = 2.5 years, stretching out to 250,000,000 years, then the calendar would be 100 kilometers long! I put it on a granite rock from Sweden, transported by glaciers to this area (Friesland) some 120,000 years ago during the the second last Ice Age. The rock lies together with other rocks in our village park and have been used for a church building that doesn't exist anymore since at least 200 years.

Absolutely amazing and truly magnificent fossil study!! I love the way you've composed this one, dear Erik!! The textures and tones are outstanding. My dad (a lecturer in chemistry by profession, and lover of all things scientific! :) ) loves fossils and will really love this post!!

@Rebecca: Thanks Rebecca! I made a still more beautiful picture of this mysterious animal that I'll post the day after tomorrow. It's a pity that all interest is focused on the dinosaurs, but this creature is still older and beautiful if you watch it in so enlarged size(its only 5,1 cm in length). I'm fascinated by the time lenghts, and that its traces are still there, as if it died a fourtnight ago. It makes me humble and modest and if I look around me I'm sad to see how many people are involved in fighting an misery afflicted on them by themselves or by others for futilities, that they see as the main purpose of their lives :(
Sehr interessant, wie immer...

@Wolfgang Prigge: Danke schön, es war mir ein Vergnügen es zu zeigen, so nützt es mehr als wenn es in unserem Wohnzimmer auf seinem Tischlein liegen blieb :)
I have some trilobites too, i am collector of stones & fossils.

@Eleftheria, 9 years old,: Nice! Don't you find they are like little gems? But they are too precious to drill holes in it to use them in a necklace, it would be a shame :), however if it were allowed, then they would make a wonderful necklace!
Such an interesting capture... wow along with your commentary it has such Grand Colors in this!
