Later on the fire got bigger, here it's almost at its maximum, and other people came to warm themselves.

your image clearly describes a family

@eddy: Thanks for the compliment, eddy! It shows that we dealt with one another as one big family. But only the young lady and the left child are family (mother and son). I was a bit concerned about the lady because she wasn't dressed adequately for the low temperature (5 degrees Celcius).

Beautiful! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

@Eleftheria, 9 years old,: Happy New Year, Eleftheria, also from Menno! A pity you couldn't be with the fire!
wish I was there, it seems that all had a fire-fun time!

I like the contrast between the prehistorical scene and the back of the boys' jacket: "salty dog" :)

@the lightwriter: Yes, it seems to be some clothing brand, which on its turn is named after a restaurant in Brooklyn, N.Y. It was a lucky moment from a photographic point of view (pov:) because the sun was setting and you see in the bushes and on the clothes the deep orange light of the setting sun.
Looks like that fire could spread. Watch out! :) Fire is so mesmerizing. I love it! :)

@HorseRotorVator: The guy feeding the fire has followed a training course in wood maintenance and knows everything about distance to nearest trees, influence of wind, digging a fire hole and covering its bottom with tiles, etc. He was very strict in guarding the fire, we were not allowed to throw anything in it, etc.
A fire has that special quality of drawing people together!

@Japanalia: I agree, fire is mesmerizing I think that's why there are pyromanes, and there seems to be a saying "every man is a little pyromane" :)
We need marshmallows!
7 Jan 2008 12:49pm
@Rabbit: Unfortunately there weren't any and the nearest supermarket was 20 minutes driving away. BTW about marshmallows: did you know that if you are a vegetarian tou shouldn't eat them? I didn't until my 10-year old son became a vegetarian, he told me that marshmallows contain gelatin made of a stuff derived from cattle bones...
Wonderfully vivid image. Sensitively and beautifully done.
