The fire you saw on the previous pictures was preceded by felling an old fir tree showing signs of decay and danger (falling branches). Here the stump is removed.

@eddy: Thanks eddy, we don't cut trees if it's not needed, we have to ask permission to the local government and this time we had permission. I agree that cutting trees is one of the dangers threatening our earth, especially in tropical rainforests, but people are often more greedy than animals. Rich people want to get richer and poor people want to have money for their daily bread. Animals just take what they need, and no more.
The contrast between the moss covered bark and the heart of the tree is striking. Nice shot!

@Steven: Thanks Steven, a pity that the picture isn't too sharp, but if you count the year rings you have an idea of the tree's age.
Hey, you are supposed to hire a Canadian lumberjack to cut your trees! Nice perspective on this one with the trunks leadind the eye to the lumberjack...

@Wolfgang Prigge: Thanks Wolfgang, you saw (saw?) it too, this was what I also noticed after the shot.
Looks like someone was working and someone was kicking back taking pictures. :) Cool shot! That is a really neat looking tree behind him.

@HorseRotorVator: LOL! You are right, and this is the truth: The man you see is a high school teacher, having followed a training course in forestry, including how to deal with a chainsaw: only he was allowed to work with it. But I really worked a lot too, carrying branches and cleaning the grass from debris caused by the felling. The tree behind him is a monument indeed, it's a "plane tree" (platana hybrida).
Remind me of forest fire when I was in East Kalimantan.
