Lauwersmeer #2: Wetlands

It's high water in the polder
Dutch proverb, said about men wearing too short trousers (supposing they have to walk through a layer of shallow water)
These wetlands are a paradise for birds. I'm not a bird photographer (no tele-lenses) but I find the landscape by itself very worthwhile. In this part of the country you notice little or nothing of our population density.

I was out in the polder last week in Arkel, Erik, and can hardly wait to show those photos. It wasn't marshland like this, however. I bet you'd find incredible birds here!

A beautiful view, it looks like you can see for miles from where you are standing. The wetland grasses are a lovley colour.

@MaryB: I was standing in a bird watching cabin, slightly above the terrain. You can indeed look for miles away without seeing buildings, masts or towers, a rare view in the Netherlands, you feel in Hungary or Poland.

The gray in gray water and sky make me shiver, seems like a windy place. Good you were in a birdwatchers cabin, it gives at least some protection.
