Taking the wind from somebody's sails Dutch proverb meaning: taking advantage of the source or cause of somebody else's progress or success, so that you win and the other loses.
Here my son is trying to steer the boat in the position of taking the wind from the girl's sail, but ... (see tomorrow) (I found some negatives from the time I used an analog camera, of the sail class my son took part in. The pictures are from almost 2 years ago (Spring 2006), he was 8 years old at the time).
