When the fox preaches the passion, farmer, take care of your geese! Dutch proverb, meaning: be cautious with possibly unreliable people speaking beautiful words!
Ot and Sien were two Dutch children book kids (4-6 years old) invented by the childrens' author Jan Ligthart in the beginning of the 20th century. This scene seems to be taken directly from these books which are still read in our country. If you look well you can see the two sitting at the right bottom corner of the door.

The ducks are adorable! It's incredible that you caught them in the process of getting out of the water.

Thanks e. But the ducks are in fact geese, good that they can't read :). They got out of the water because they saw me with my camera at the other side of the ditch and found it safer to go to their own safe piece of land.

Lovely capture!

A nice photo, a slice of country life. One can almost hear the geese protest. I like the proverb very much, we should apply it to all politicians....

I love this kind of Dutch homes with the canal close by and most probably swept by greenery in other seasons. I like the colours, too! And I can see the little children just where you've directed us to look!

@Japanalia: Thanks Japanalia! I also was enchanted by the old-fashioned view, when we just had moved to this area 16 years ago, I thought time had stood still since WW II around here. Those little houses, those hedges, gardens, small villages etc. Last 16 years much has been removed abd/or renewed but they always say Holland is 50 years behind worls history, and I would add: Friesland is 50 years behind Dutch history, that makes 100 years behind world history :) - look also at all those old classical sailing ships.
those are some neat looking trees too. Love seeing the little fellers getting out of the water. Cool shot! :)

Hi Iluci, great photo! I remember Ot & Sien very well. The composition is very nice because you captured the geese just at the wright moment. If you want a"coloured "lijstje", you can choose this option while posting a photo. Take a good look on the image posting page.

I think you want to be the first one out of the water, not the one walking up the plankwhile the first bird decides to shake her tail vigorously.

Beautiful. Great timing. The geese make so much of a difference to the image. For a while I lived in a place called Lunteren, in the Netherlands and this image reminds me of that neighborhood.
