Matthew Passion 2: The Story of the Itching Nose

Posted by Illuci (Hurdegaryp, Netherlands) on 22 March 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture.

Choir and orchestra of Stenden Hogeschool in full operation. During the break I met a retired colleague who was restored from a disease that normally makes people totally handicapped or is lethal. He had given up hope and had said goodbye to family and friends. He only wanted to listen to music, the Matthew Passion of Bach. Before that time he hadunderwent therapy to try to restore his arm movements, among other things he had to practise pointing to and touching nose, ears etc., which had always failed. Directly, he told, after listening to Bach's music, his nose itched and in kind of reflex he scratched his nose. Schratched his nose!! This simple movement was a sign that he was recovered, the doctors were amazed. Now he sung again in his own favorite music. (He is outside the picture).
