Driving from Utrecht to Leeuwarden you go through an area which was sea bottom before around 1965. The area is now a province of the Netherlands called "Flevoland" with its main city Almere, named after the Medieval name of the "sea" (rather a bay). Because the land is very flat, has no obstacles and relatively few inhabitants, it's been found suited for windmills.

I agree, a beautiful sky, and although many may not agree with me, I do not find the wind turbines distracting here!
