Driving from Utrecht to Leeuwarden you go through an area which was sea bottom before around 1965. The area is now a province of the Netherlands called "Flevoland" with its main city Almere, named after the Medieval name of the "sea" (rather a bay). Because the land is very flat, has no obstacles and relatively few inhabitants, it's been found suited for windmills.

I favour this one to the yesterday's posting!Better angle, more windmills with silhouettes that I like very much ( we have only a huge one in Yokohama on the bay) and the dramatic sky that gives character to the shot, as counterpart of the flatness of the terrain.Great idea to take in the cars,too!

@vu@granby - Wolfgang: Ja de hemel was te indrukwekkend, dus ik reed van de snelweg af op een zij-weg, om deze foto te nemen want zoiets kom je niet vaak tegen. Ik was op het goede moment op de goede plek!
