Peculiar Sculpture

Posted by Illuci (Hurdegaryp, Netherlands) on 15 April 2008 in Art & Design.

My brother Walter (not the Lightwriter) and I visited recently a building in the South of our country where were surprised to find a peculiar sculpture from an hitherto unknown culture in Italy. It represents the Three Wise Men known from the Christmas story, caged behind bars, and guarded by two Roman soldiers, carved into the doors. The whole was covered by a leather roof and stood on an oak table surrounded by a rope. There was a text on a sign with an explanation: it came from Nordo-Laziomonterese, which sounded rather Italian. Back home I searched it on Google and found this site that explained everything.

On the picture you see my brother in complete astonishment.
