Group Walking

Posted by Illuci (Hurdegaryp, Netherlands) on 8 June 2008 in Sport & Recreation.

People are social creatures, so many of us find walking in a group more interesting than walking alone or with a small group of close realtives or friends. Afterwards the participants get a medal showing they completed the walk. In Holland we have a famous international four-day walk event "De Vierdaagse" which is imitated on a small scale in many towns and villages. In our village we have the three-day walk event for school children and their parents, and different from the genuine Vierdaagse, they only have to walk in the evening from 6.00- 8.00 PM. (In the genuine Vierdaagse they walk all day long). As a father I also became victim of this national foolishness and took my camera with me. The young boy you see on the picture isn't my son, he would be ashamed about such a fool father taking a picture of (in) a mirror along the road :), he was walking elsewhere in the group.
