Friesian cottage near Heerenveen (Katlijk)

100 years ago this was a poor area and these cottages were inhabited by very poor farmers with big families. Nowadays their inhabitants are wealthy people from the cities (Amsterdam, The Hague etc.) who spend their retirement in them or use them as a second house. Thanks to them these little monuments are saved from decay.
